Our Story

An Istanbul rug house, weaving trust since 1997.

"A great rug is not bought in a hurry. It is lived with."

The Orient Gallery began with a simple belief: that a handwoven rug is not merely a floor covering, but a work of art with a lifetime ahead of it. Since 1997, from our home in Istanbul, we have devoted ourselves to the finest handwoven carpets and kilims of Anatolia.

We travel to the great weaving regions — Hereke, Oushak, Heriz, Kayseri — to choose each piece by hand. Every rug is knotted by master weavers in pure wool and silk, colored with natural dyes, and carries the quiet signature of the person who made it. No two are ever alike.

And because a rug should be chosen in the room it will call home, we bring the gallery to you. Across the United States and Canada, a specialist visits with a curated selection, so you can see each piece in your own light — at no cost, and with no obligation. It is a slower, more personal way to find a rug. We would not have it any other way.

Why It Matters

What Sets Our Rugs Apart

Truly Handwoven

Every rug is knotted entirely by hand by master weavers in Anatolia — never machine-made, never rushed.

One of a Kind

Pure wool and silk, natural dyes and the weaver's own hand mean no two pieces are ever the same.

Brought to You

We visit your home with a curated selection, so you choose each rug in the very space it is meant for.

Three Decades of Trust

Chosen by hand, made to last

For nearly three decades, families across the world have welcomed our rugs into their homes. A fine handwoven rug is an heirloom: cared for well, it grows only more beautiful, passing warmth and color from one generation to the next.

We are rug dealers at heart — and we treat every piece, and every home it enters, with the respect it deserves.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long have you been selling handwoven rugs?

We have specialized in fine handwoven Turkish and Anatolian rugs since 1997. As an Istanbul rug house, we bring decades of experience to every piece we select.

Do you really bring the rugs to my home?

Yes — this is how we work. A specialist visits your home with a curated selection, so you can see each rug in your own light and space, at no cost and with no obligation to buy.

Are your rugs handmade?

Every rug is 100% handwoven by master weavers in Anatolia, knotted from wool and silk and colored with natural dyes. No two pieces are ever alike.

Where are you based, and where do your rugs come from?

We are an Istanbul-based rug house. Our rugs are sourced from the great weaving regions of Anatolia, including Hereke, Oushak, Heriz and Kayseri.

Which areas do you serve?

We arrange private home viewings across the United States and Canada, and we ship worldwide.

What is a Hereke silk rug?

A Hereke silk rug is a finely knotted Turkish rug woven in pure silk, prized for its high knot density, luminous detail and lasting value as a collectible heirloom.

How much does a rug cost?

Each rug is one of a kind, so pricing is shared on request. Book a home visit or message us on WhatsApp, and our team will personally help you find the right piece for your home.

How does an in-home rug viewing work in the USA or Canada?

You book a visit with your preferred date and address, and our specialist brings a curated selection of handwoven rugs directly to your home. You see each piece in your own room and light, keep what you love, and there is no cost and no obligation to buy.

How much does a handwoven rug cost?

Every piece is one of a kind, so pricing is on request and depends on size, age, material and knot density. Wool rugs, silk rugs and kilims each have their own range — tell us your room and budget and we will bring options that fit both.

How can I tell a rug is genuinely handwoven?

Turn the rug over: on a handwoven piece the pattern is clearly visible knot by knot on the back, the fringe is the rug's own warp (not sewn on), and small irregularities in the design are natural. We show all of this in person at every home viewing.

How do I care for a handwoven wool or silk rug?

Vacuum gently without a beater bar, rotate the rug once or twice a year, and keep it out of prolonged direct sun. Blot spills immediately with a dry cloth. Every few years, have it washed by a specialist who works with hand-knotted rugs.

Do you ship rugs across the USA and Canada?

Yes — we serve clients across the United States and Canada. The preferred way is a private in-home viewing, and purchased pieces are delivered to your address.
